26/10/25 ‘Apples, Plums and Pears’ art (ages 6 to 10), 9.50–11am
COURSE TUTOR: Emma Thacker-Vuts, art and design skills tutor
VENUE: Longtown Village Hall, HR2 0LD
Emma specialises in igniting and furthering creative self-expression and confidence. With over 30 years of tutoring experience working with young and mature artists, she now works in Herefordshire with individuals and community group workshops, exploring a wide range of media and skills. The aim of Emma’s work is to inspire and enable others.
What to expect
In this workshop Emma will support up to 6 children (accompanied by an adult) to use a range of materials and practical skills to encourage observation and fine motor skills.
Firstly, the kids will look at different shapes of fruit and using scissors, cut out this shape from watercolour paper. Next, they’ll use paint sticks and water to blend colours that match the skin of the fruit. (Brushes or fingers may be used to spread the colour!)
Then the kids will investigate the inside of the fruit by drawing and painting what they see. Finally, leaves and fruit stalks will be created by ribbon knotting and tying to their own orchard tree branch to take home.
All materials and equipment provided. Kids should wear clothes appropriate for art.
Do arrive 10 minutes before the start time so that the kids can be greeted and settled.
